Privacy Policy

Hearts of Grace is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy will tell you what information we collect about you and about your use of the Hearts of Grace website (the “Site”). It will explain the choices you have about how your personal information is used and how we protect that information. Please read this carefully.

Collection of Information
Hearts of Grace collects information from you at several points during your visit to the Site:

Registration–A user must register in order to post a response to an article. During registration, a user is required to provide certain categories of information, such as name, e-mail address, and a password.

Optional Information—Occasionally, you may be asked to provide information about yourself. For example, you may wish to participate in a survey or a contest. Participation in surveys or contests or the use of other services which require the input of additional information is completely voluntary. You choose whether to disclose the information necessary to use these features of our site.

Passive Collection of Information–In addition to the information which you actively provide the site, Hearts of Grace collects information about how you interact with our site. Hearts of Grace collects passive information for purposes such as testing and improving a user’s experience at the site and the compilation of broad aggregate demographic data and related usage information for internal purposes and for disclosure to third parties such as advertisers and content partners. The types of passive information collected by this site include, without limitation, your IP address, which type of browser you are using, where you go on our site, and how long you stay on any part of our site. Passive information does not identify you to Hearts of Grace by name, and Hearts of Grace does not link your IP address to your personally identifiable information.

Forward-to-a-Friend Programs–You can choose to let friends know about Hearts of Grace through our Email-to-a-Friend referral services (such as emailing your friend a link to a cartoon). If you choose to use the Hearts of Grace service, we will ask you for your friend’s name and e-mail address. Hearts of Grace will send your friend an e-mail inviting him or her to view the cartoon or article on the site. Hearts of Grace stores your friend’s contact information for the sole purpose of sending the e-mail.

Protection of Children
The Site is not designed or intended to attract children or teens under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from any person we know is under the age of 17.

Use of Your Personal Information
The personal information collected on this Site will be used to provide the services you have requested or authorized. If you choose to opt-in for an email alert or email newsletter, you will receive only the item that you chose to receive. However, there may be offers for you to opt in to offers from third parties. If you choose to opt in to these offers, your information will be provided to third parties. At any point, you can opt-out of any services that you have subscribed to, and Hearts of Grace will honor your request.

We may use non-personal information for research purposes, and we may provide this information in the aggregate to third parties. For example, we might inform third parties regarding the number of users of our Site and the activities they conduct while on our Site.

We may contract with other companies and individuals to help us provide services. For example, we may host some of our Site on another company’s computer, or we may hire a company to answer customer questions, send information about our products and other services. In order to perform their jobs, these other companies may have limited access to some of the information we maintain about you. We require all such companies to comply with the terms of our Privacy Policy, to limit their access to any personal information to the minimum necessary to perform their obligations, and not to use the information they may access for purposes other than fulfilling their responsibilities to us.

If we transfer a business unit (such as a subsidiary) or an asset (such as a web site) to another company, we will require them to honor the applicable terms of this Privacy Policy. In the event that Hearts of Grace or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, personally identifiable information will be among the transferred assets.

We may release personal information to third parties: (1) to comply with valid legal requirements such as a law, regulation, search warrant, subpoena or court order; or (2) in special cases, such as in response to a physical threat to you or others, to protect property or defend or assert legal rights. In the event that we are legally compelled to disclose your personal information to a third party, we will attempt to notify you unless doing so would violate the law or court order. When we share information with third parties, we ask that they agree in writing to abide by our Privacy Policy.

We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our website. These companies may use information (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices about not having this information used by these companies, click here.

Other than the cases described above, we will not release personal information about you to a third party without your consent.

Security of Your Personal Information
We have implemented technology and security policies, rules and other measures to protect the personal data that we have under our control from unauthorized access, improper use, alteration, unlawful or accidental destruction, and accidental loss. We also protect your information by requiring that all our employees and others who have access to or are associated with the processing of your data respect your confidentiality.

Although Hearts of Grace makes every reasonable attempt to secure your information, there is always some risk in transmitting information over the Internet. There is always a risk that criminals could find some way to penetrate our security systems. We take appropriate measures to protect your information, but we cannot guarantee that the personal information that we collect will never be disclosed in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy.
